GUIDELINES FOR PROPHETIC ACTIVATION

Objective:
Tonight, students will engage in prophetic activation exercises in breakout rooms. The purpose of this activation is to cultivate a sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, step out in faith, and practice hearing and delivering prophetic words in a safe, biblical, and encouraging environment.

GUIDELINES FOR PROPHETIC ACTIVATION:

  1. Posture Your Heart in Worship & Prayer Begin with a moment of worship and prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to lead.
Pray: “Lord, I surrender my mind, heart, and spirit to You. Speak through me as I encourage and edify others.”
  2. Scriptural Foundation for Prophetic Ministry 1 Corinthians 14:3 – “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.”
Amos 3:7 – “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
John 10:27 – “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

BREAKOUT ROOM INSTRUCTIONS:

Each group will have 40-45 minutes for prophetic activation. Follow these structured steps:

STEP 1: SILENCE & LISTENING (5 MINUTES)

  • Each person will take 1-2 minutes of silence to listen to what the Holy Spirit is revealing.
  • Focus on a word, image, scripture, or impression you receive.
  • If you feel unsure, ask, “Holy Spirit, what do You want me to share?”

STEP 2: SHARING THE WORD (35 MINUTES)

  • One by one, students will share what they sense, without self-doubt or over-explaining.
  • Use faith-building phrases like:“I sense the Lord saying…”
    “I feel God highlighting…”
    “Does this resonate with you?”
  • The receiver should listen, not interrupt or analyze in real-time.

STEP 3: CONFIRMATION & ENCOURAGEMENT (5 MINUTES)

  • Each receiver should share if and how the word resonates with them.
  • Words should be evaluated through scripture, witness of the Spirit, and character alignment.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 – “Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good.”

RULES FOR PROPHETIC ACTIVATION:

  1. Encouragement Over Criticism Prophecy is meant to strengthen, encourage, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3).
No negative, condemning, or fear-based words.
  2. No “Guiding” or “Controlling” Prophecy Avoid statements like, “God told me you have to…”
Instead, use open-ended encouragement: “I sense God leading you toward…”
  3. No Directional Life-Altering Words Avoid prophesying marriage, relocation, pregnancies, or major life changes unless strongly confirmed by leadership.
  4. Submission to Scripture and Leadership Every word should align with biblical principles and be tested in community.
Leaders will help discern and guide prophetic words with wisdom.
  5. Faith Over Fear – But Stay HumbleStep out in faith but remain teachable and accountable.
Not every prophetic word will be 100% correct—that’s okay! This is a learning experience.

REFLECTION & CLOSING

After breakout rooms, return to the main session to share reflections and takeaways. Ask:

  • What did you learn about hearing God’s voice?
  • Did you receive confirmation from others?
  • How did it feel to step out in faith?

I encourage you to journal your experiences and continue practicing hearing God’s voice in their daily lives.
